Thanks for Bringing Sexy BACK?!

I am linking up with Cielo at House in the Roses. Go there to view the other participants for Show Off Your Cottage Monday.

A few weeks ago when Fashion Week in New York was happening, I saw one woman's comment on one designer's line. The comment was: Thank heaven sexy is back. I was floored by that remark, especially when I saw that designer's line by clicking on her website. The designer was Tory Burch if you care to go look at her designs. They were gorgeous and modest! All the dresses came to the knee and were just utterly feminine and classy. So tell me, what did sexy have to do with it?! I thought the newer definition of sexy was to have it all hanging out there for everyone to see and the more hanging out the better. No mystique for the men anymore.
The informal definition of sexy can be exciting and/or appealing, and I think that's what the commenter must have meant because the design line was exciting and appealing.

I'm like a lot of people I know who are fed up with the attire of today of most teenagers, mothers and even grandmothers. I redesigned my wardrobe about 20 years ago but I didn't have to redesign it much because I was, and am by nature, a modest person. Sure, I wore mini skirts, but the other day we were visiting with a couple when we were talking about my wardrobe of the late 60s and 70s, my hubby said something about my skirts being very short and I just about fell off my chair! Au contraire, Love Bunny! Luckily, I had my iPod with me and a picture of me in what he described as mini. Here's a photo of it. Now, this is the photo he was talking about so I proved him wrong. I did, however, have a few skirts that were a tad shorter than this, but not anywhere near what you see today. So don't ever let me hear I was immodest. Big hair, yes; immodest, never!

Rant over. Let's visit some absolutely delightful and darling photos of gorgeous rooms and ideas.

Cute, cozy, small and homey.

I think this kitchen is just warm and cozy and loved it.

Now, I've seen these slipcovers for sale and they're pretty cheap but look how cute they are on this sofa and really just make this room adorable.

Pink holder and blue pencils and scissors always did go together, right? ;-)

This looks to me like an English kitchen. Look how the lighting is put in. I'm wondering if it would even pass code in most states.

I have decorated some of these papier machĂȘ letters. I love doing them and placing them around the house in different areas.

Here are some in my laundry room I did. And for those of you who have never visited my blog before, yes, my walls are pink. That is not a camera malfunction; all the walls in my house are pink except for Love Bunny's office and it's a beautiful pale blue/green.

Charming shabby vignette of different feminine articles.

A few days ago I was cleaning out my closet here in my office. I cannot tell you how much of it I am donating to a thrift store but I kept several things. One of them was a clipboard and am I glad I did. I'm going to set my craft room back up after clearing it out for my granddaughter and her hubby and my great granddaughter when they visited here last summer. (Yes, last summer!) I want to get back to crafting once again. I've missed it. I have more ideas in my mind and one idea involves this clipboard. There will even be a giveaway of something utterly fantastic. ;-)

Just a sweet vignette I thought you'd like to see also.

My kind of room! I love this adorable sunny breakfast room.

I wonder how I could imitate this idea in my home. I mean the hanging flower jars. I do like the burlap curtains for the cabinets though.

A darling camper. If mine were this cute I might like camping. Aaaarrrrgh. I can't believe I said that: like and camping in the same sentence.

Our dream patio, chicks. Sigh...

I just hope my luncheon I'm giving soon will look like this. I'm certainly going to try and replicate this look and feel.

Yummy yellow and pink kitchen. My favorite color combo is pink and yellow.

This is a brave homeowner to do this but I really like it.

Yes, I know. And sympathize with each of you lusting to have this little shed in your own backyard.

I also think this is one of the coziest rooms I've ever seen.

Little children are still the symbol of the eternal marriage between love and duty.

First of all, an email I received from a sweet friend in Michigan the other day. She keeps me in stitches with things Marines-related since she knows I'm a Marine wife and mother through and through, but I thought this was funny. As they say: Once a Marine; always a Marine. That goes for the families of Marines also. And so true!

Two Texas Highway Patrol officers were conducting speeding enforcement on Hwy 77, just south of Kingsville, Texas.

One of the officers was using a hand held radar device to check speeding vehicles approaching the town of Kingsville. The officers were suddenly surprised when the radar gun began reading 300 miles per hour and climbing.

The officer attempted to reset the radar gun, but it would not reset and then it suddenly turned off.

Just then a deafening roar over the mesquite tree tops on Hwy 77 revealed that the radar had in fact locked onto a USMC F/1-18 Hornet, which was engaged in a low flying exercise near this, its Naval Air home base location in Kingsville, Texas.

Back at the Texas Highway Patrol Headquarters in Corpus Christi, the Patrol Captain fired off a complaint to the US Naval Base Commander in Kingsville for shutting down his equipment.

The reply came back in true USMC style:

'Thank you for your letter...

You may be interested to know that the tactical computer in the Hornet had detected the presence of, and subsequently locked on to, your hostile radar equipment and automatically sent a jamming signal back to it, which is why it shut down.

Furthermore, an Air-to-Ground missile aboard the fully armed aircraft had also automatically locked on to your equipment's location.

Fortunately, the Marine pilot flying the Hornet recognized the situation for what it was, quickly responded to the missile system alert status and was able to override the automated defense system before the missile was launched to destroy the hostile radar position on the side of Hwy 77 South of Kingsville.

The pilot suggests you cover your mouths when cussing at them, since the video systems on the jets are very high tech.

Sgt. Johnson, the officer holding the radar gun, should get his dentist to check his left rear molar. It appears the filling is loose. Also, the snap is broken on his holster.'

Semper Fi
Even is this is not a true story, it is definitely something the Marines would do. I love it no matter what it is.

Do you love beautiful vignettes? I sure do, so today I'm showing you some to drool over. Come along.

I'm pretty sure this is that little cozy cabin in the New York hills that is so popular. Most of us would give a few years of our life to have something this darling to relax and dream in. Not me! I want all the years I have left and then some.

I think this is adorable to have in a bathroom counter top as I doubt it would fit on most tubs.

White slipcovers and old trunks as coffee tables are a favorite of mine.

I truly would love a kitchen this quaint. When I get the ladder up in my laundry room (Or should I say, when hubs decides I've nagged him enough and gives in to do the chore?) I'm going to put some hanging spray painted cans up there with faux roses in them.

A white ruffled shower curtain!! Love it.

White slip-covered sofa, mismatched dining chairs, white room divider, darling chandelier.

Wouldn't you like to have these dress forms for yourself? Ooooh my gosh, how gorgeous!

Sigh....

Double sigh.....

Mud room? Sun porch? Kitchen? Dining room?

Surely an antique mirror would make my bedroom gorgeous. Hmmmm, I did buy new pillows a couple of weeks ago.

Sweet.

Go do something extraordinary today, if not for someone else, then for yourself. While you're at it, smell some roses.

And another thing...

Hubby and I recently went over to Washington to visit with our granddaughter and her family. The main reason for going was a model railroad train show and hubs can't pass one up here on the West Coast. Plus I try to accommodate him whenever possible because he loves them so. This one was in Monroe, WA.

Now, I absolutely love Washington state. It's green beyond description, especially living here in a reclaimed desert. Plus Washington is quiet for a large population area. I believe it's because of so much foliage that muffles most of the sound.

There's another area that makes it unique—the aging hippies from the 60s. Now, I lived in the San Francisco Bay area during the early 70s when the hippies were the attraction people came from all over to see so I definitely know a hippie when I see one and I saw quite a few. You know the kind: men in their 60s, long gray hair held back into a pony tail by a rubber band and sometimes a clip, earring in one ear, Birkenstocks and round wire-rimmed glasses. Oh yeah, that's the dead giveaway for hippies. I haven't a problem with them, but they seem to have not grown up at all in 40 years here on this earth. Still wandering around seeming to have no jobs. It was really humorous to see them but also a little sad that they have to live in their "glory moment" for the rest of their lives. Even my granddaughter thought they were rather pathetic, but then she and her hubby graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, and got jobs and made something of their lives. They have no truck with deadbeats or that style of living.

Ooooh, and another thing. I've been reading about incidents in N.C. where 4-year old school children whose mummy packed them homemade lunches are being denied the lunches from their lunch boxes and made to eat from the school cafeteria. Chicken nuggets! Then the parent is charged a fee for it.

First of all, a 4-year old is NOT in school. It's called daycare. You do not start school until you are 5-years old. And pre-school is daycare. Do NOT argue with me about it.

Second, what right does the school or state have to tell them the lunches aren't nutritious? It's the parent's prerogative, given to them by God. BTW, when the report told what was in the lunches, it was MORE nutritious than the chicken nuggets. A turkey and cheese sandwich, apple juice, banana and chips. Sounds fine to me. What is happening to our country and our school system?! I'm so angry I could spit nails. A lot of people I know home school or have their kids in charter schools and they excel the public school kids by far. Oh, hold me back!!!Forgive my rant but I am beyond my limit here.

I've had my say, so let's look at some more gorgeous vignettes and photos that dazzle the eye! I don't need to describe or caption each photo, do I? Naaah, just look and day dream.

I tell you, the wife who owned that original table and chairs would stare at us in amazement for putting it in our new homes today. She'd probably think we were out of our minds because she probably lusted and dreamed of having a brand new spanking clean table and chairs.

I think this is a house where cats rule!

And I'll bet a crafter lives in this room.

I'm not too sure that hanging a bough of evergreens near a fire is a good idea but it sure does look lovely.

Sweet eye candy for you.

Claudia, are you looking?

And to think I painted our old patio table pink when this is in style now.

You have my permission to have something sweet about now. Go ahead!

I would never have thought of using a square boxy cushion as a coffee table. But I love how this looks.

Americana at its best: flag, porch swing, bicycle leaning against a tree, flowers growing around the porch and a hanging birdcage with flowers in it.

A dramatic combination of colors for a kitchen.

I saw this and am going to do a chair I have like this tomorrow.

A sweet vignette for you.

Now, go and do something sweet, nice or uplifting for someone you know. Okay?!
